Meredith Hannon is a self-taught artist who began her career by utilizing her bedroom walls as a canvas. Inspired by impressionist masters, she painted a full-sized mural of an Italian seaside village, and with the encouragement of family and friends, expanded into painting murals across Northern Virginia. Hannon’s goal is to transport people with her paintings, sometimes to a new place and other times to a place that they’ve seen hundreds of times. A native of Northern Virginia, Meredith Hannon loves painting scenes of the Washington, DC area, and in addition, she specializes in Mediterranean and Caribbean townscapes. This piece is inspired by the grounds of the Capitol Building in Washington, DC, after a freshly fallen snow.
